Food For Thought

How we prepare and cook our food determines the amount of vitamins and nutrients we extract from it. This in turn determines the strength of our immune system –which help us to ward of diseases ranging from the common cold to life threatening diseases.
Our body does not just crave food, it craves the vitamins and minerals we get from the food and if we destroy the nutrition through bad preparation and cooking we end up overeating to compensate for the lack of vitamins in our diet. For example, have you had a meal and an hour or two later you feel hungry? Well you see, your body is searching for extra vitamins so sends a signal to brain saying "we need more vitamins & minerals" . We interpret that message as I’m hungry, thats why we can be overfed but undernourished and this can affect our long term health.
